model you're going to put the model on the top and the actual on the bottom so with bottle on the top and actual on the bottom you would have three over two hundred and So based on that information when we cross multiply we end up with 800 3 * 2 is 6 there's going to be a test on rate ratios and proportions on Thursday I told y'all that yesterday today we're going to do the introduction of the day we're going to determine the scale for search and translate between scale models and then we're going to do Alex and acellus and I'm here to tell you A lot of people have zeros and today we're going talking about it's the same essential question as it was yesterday how can I solve mathematical and real-world problems involving geometric shapes and same standard GM one determine the scale proportional two-dimensional drawing an object what's a two-dimensional drawing of an object it would be a piece of paper flat drawing two dimensional what's the difference between two-dimensional and three-dimensional dimensional you can actually like touch it like a model not flat good answer okay its dimensions are related to the dimensions of an actual object by a ratio called scale factor for example if a building if a drawing of a building has a scale factor of 1 to 87 this means that for each dimension of the drawing 12807 corresponding of the actual building again scale is written with the model on the top and the actual on the bottom so what they usually say is like 1 in equals 87 ft or 1 inch equals 87 in whatever their measurements are that they're using usually that one stands to simplify with first two exactly most people would have taken most people would have chosen to and if we chose to then we would have 9 / 6 D2 no 72 9 over 72 what something we can take out of 9/72 would it be 9 cuz how do you make 72/8 x 9 so if we took the nine and divided it by 9 we would end up with one and we took the 72 and divided by 9 we would get eight and that's how you simplify and get 1/8 questions write down these directions set up your rate ratio and see that is the directions on how to find the scale factor set it up simplify to directions so what would be the scale factor of the Third 13.5 / 1 / 8 anybody know what was the question what would be the scale factor of 13.5 / 1/8 13.5 / 1 / 8 Jay will win I did was I divided 31/8 by 13.5 to see how close I could get and the answer turned out to be eight so in order to simplify this the answer again would have been 1/8 so you set up your Ratio or rate and you simplify thoughts all the directions are questions a photograph was enlarged make a poster the poster is 20.5 in by 36 in the scale factor is 5 / find the actual size of the photograph Kay so obviously the first thing I need to do is set up my rate my proportion and then I need to cross multiply so if I'm going to cross multiply what is 36 * 1 3636 okay so now I have five equals 36 how do I get the coefficient to move to to become one and move to the other side see the third word down what do I do divide absolutely I divide so when I divide not changing 36 / 5 7 and then there goes 7.2 so you going to write a proportion to find the we're going to use cross products which is how I Got 5 I + 36 + 36 * 1 is 36 then because the V is a coefficient divided by the coefficient and that's how I got seven point again we're going to do the same thing State again I said can I write this down okay photographs tonight that's fine if you notice the photograph when you look at a little photograph that has two measurements the width and the length and so to find the width we set it up the 5/1 and because it's not the true it's the poster is going to be 20 / 5 so 20.5 / W so I again cross product 5 * w 1 * 20.5 / the coefficient and you end up with 4.1 so the actual photograph is 7.2 in long and 4.1 in so you set up your proportion cross product which we already we've already learned we already know how to do and we already know how to divide by 1 itself so you either way you're just going to be multiplying with no dividing if you find the cross product 24 * 1.5 what's the answer 24 / I mean * 1.5 is 36 absolutely the answer is 36 so now we have to do the exact same thing with the 45 so I'm going to instead of using W I'm going to use linked linked over 45 equals 1.5 over 1 foot the 45 where the 24 is 4.45 * 1.5 + 25.45 * 1.5 is 67.5 so the doll house is 67.5 in long and 36 in wide and if you notice they always give us a key they always tell us which one is the numerator and which one is the denominator that way it's not something you have to guess okay on a road map how many of you've ever seen an Old Fashioned road maps the kind that you have to open up and fold and try and get back into order actually had those usually if cross product way this is what we're going to do and then we're going to multiply and then you divide by the coefficient cross X and the answer turns out to be 300 again there's two methods to solve a proportion can one become the other if so how and cross multiplying two by two methods okay what would be the scale factor what's the number you can take out of 8 24 + 8 220k so if I take two out is 8 / 1824 and I divide that by 2 so I end up with for over 912 can I see anything I can take out at 4 and 9:12 can I take out another two by two I end up with two sore 56 okay so is there anything I can still take out I got to / 456 that as low as I can go the answer to that would be no you can take out another 2 so the answer should be 1/2 to 8 what is the only thing I did I set it up and a you who have finished and you are ready to go tell me something about scale factor how do I set up a scale factor what are the two steps to solve a scale factor tell me how do I say scale factor you can multiply and divide or simplify how about set up the rate or ratio and simplify that's it it's when you're looking for the scale model that you have to cross multiply and divide but in order for scale factor it's just set up the rate of a ratio in simplified okay where it's a little bit after 10 for those of you who started the the monthly assessment by the way guys we have to take another monthly assessment at the end of the month so we know need to get this done they've only given us what two more days three more days to work on this monthly assessment and they're going to close it so for those of you who want the grade for the monthly assessment instead of a zero cuz I'm going to make a note show not to do you need to get that finished before they close it and then I have some people who still want to do the USA test prep I have some people who have finished and when I checked the acellus or the Alex this morning yesterday 1234 since Sunday for people or since Saturday for people have done acellus or Alex have been checked us out okay so I can give you the code for USA test I mean for the monthly assessment for those of you not finished USATestprep go do it and move on.
