Welcome

Welcome to HJSHS, 2024-25

I am Toni Case.  California is where I was born, and it was my home for many years. I went to Elementary, Middle and High school in Glendale. I began college at Pasadena College, which is now Point Loma University. It is a private Nazarene Church College. While in California I spent many days at the beach and also in the San Gabriel Mountains. Surfing and skiing were always fun pastimes. I moved to Hawaii for a short while and really enjoyed the weather, ocean and people.  It is amazing how many people visit you when you live in Hawaii.  I moved back to California and taught Kindergarten in Pasadena City Schools. Then I moved to Atlanta, GA.  To be able to teach Elementary in Georgia, I added a major of Early Childhood Education, by attending Mercer University.  I continued my teaching career in Gwinnett County Public Schools, teaching first, third, and fourth grades. Many new children from all over the world were moving into my school.  I thought I had better find a way to reach them.  We had 66 different languages at our school.  So back to school I went to complete a study in English as a Second Language at Georgia State University.  Next a master’s degree seemed like a good way to enhance my teaching skills, so again I found myself back at Mercer University.  I received a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, with an endorsement in gifted education.  I left my fourth-grade classroom to teach Gifted Ed. for 10 years.  During this time, I also completed an Ed.S. in Middle School Math and Science.  I retired from Gwinnett County Schools and moved down here to the beautiful low country to teach ESOL at Hardeeville Elementary. I taught there for three years.  I then taught at Ridgeland Elementary for 3 years. I have been at HJSHS for 10 years as an ESOL teacher. Now I have moved to 7th grade Science.

I have a great son who lives in Atlanta, GA with his wife and three children.  Riley, my granddaughter, eighteen and is in 12th grade this year.  My twin grandsons, Mason and Noah, are sixteen and are in 10th grade.  My husband, Jerry, and I celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary in Dec. We think living here is wonderful and being near the ocean is perfect.  My favorite pastimes are swimming, spending time at the beach, reading, sewing, golfing, and cooking. Going back to Atlanta to see all the kids is fun too and I do love shopping there.
