Antioch Educational Center's Feeding Our Pre-teen Program

On Thursday, September 27, seven volunteers from the Antioch Educational Center’s (AEC) Feeding Our Pre-Teen (FOP) Program packed bags of snacks for sixth graders at Hardeeville-Ridgeland Middle School. The following volunteers are pictured in the in the photo above (from left):  Rev. William Bowser, Norma McGee, Emmett Cummings, Marth Cuyler, Cindy Swailes, Hilda Horton, Sharon Ferguson, Beverly Cook.

The nutritious snacks will be distributed to all sixth-grade students, 15 minutes before dismissal each afternoon, to fill the void that exists for students who eat lunch each day around 11:00 a.m. and then do not eat again until 6:00 or 7:00 each evening when they and/or their parent(s) arrive home.  This program will send students home feeling more energetic and able to undertake wholesome activities and homework instead of feeling the emptiness and fatigue that stem from hunger.

AEC seeks additional volunteers to pack the snacks.  Please call 843-645-9400 to volunteer or email [email protected] if you are available to assist our children.  Volunteers must undergo a background check, which can be done in five minutes, at no cost, on the Jasper County School District website (https://www.jcsd.net/).
