HRMS Students visit Savannah State University

The Careers and Technology Education (CATE) and the Physical Education students went to tour Savannah State University (SSU) campus on Monday, April 2, 2018.  The tour included a total of eighty 7th and 8th grade students and eight staff chaperones. Campus Tour Advisors greeted the students. The Tiger Ambassador Tour Guide presented history of the campus and the various buildings, campus life, student center, housing, dining hall, Tiger Arena and college bookstore.   The unique campus is surrounded by marsh waters and has a marine biology major as well as majors in the following areas, Business Administration, Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and Teacher Education.    As the students passed through the “Divine Nine” courtyard, some were very interested in becoming a member of a fraternity or sorority organization.  The students also met the Mr. and Miss Savannah State University, who spoke to the students and gave them insight into what it means to continue their education and always seek higher accomplishments and opportunities at the college level.   Students had the opportunity to have a buffet lunch in the dining hall.  One student said, “Oh, this is like Golden Corral.”  It was a fun-filled and insightful day, which left thoughts of students continuing their education for lifelong learning, whether they choose a four-year college, technical college, or military after high school.
